A Meloding couple accused of manufacturing and dealing in drugs will appear at the Virginia Magistrate Court on Monday, after they were remanded in custody.
The couple, a 50-year-old woman and 59-year-old man, were arrested on Friday in Meloding, Virginia by the provincial organized crime police unit together with illicit mining knock out team.
“At about 17:30, the house identified was approached and two suspects were found with drugs,” said Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng.
Thakeng said the police seized 72 full tablets of Star Mandrax, 49 halves pills of Star Mandrax, 19 quarter pills of Star Mandrax, five medium packets of Chrystal Meth and eight small packets of Chrystal Meth.
The police also discovered cash that amounts to R3 870.
Earlier this week, the Welkom public order policing task team nabbed a male person selling dagga to a young school boy and was arrested in Mmahabane.
Dagga and cash were found in his possession.
In the same township, foreign nationals were arrested for drug dealing and for illegal immigration.
The suspects between the ages of 25 to 38 years old will soon appear in Ventersburg Magistrate Court, two for dealing in dagga and two foreign nationals for illegal immigration.
