Police patrol leads to drug dealers bust

Welkom Public Order Policing Reaction Team’s Monyakeng’s patrol leads to duo alleged drug dealers on Wednesday, 03 November 2021.

Members were called out to Wesselsbron for crowd managent duties, but upon arrival the situation was calm.

Subsequently, members decided to proceed with their normal crime combatting duties in Monyakeng. During their patrol, they received information from residents about suspicious movements at a house in the neighborhood.

Members visited the address and found a of males in the yard and police requested to search all of them.

They found a 30-year-old in possession of Mandrax and cash that amounting to R173, 70 in his pocket. He then informed the police that he was selling drugs for the owner of the house.

Police proceeded to search the house. Inside the fridge, they found and seized 557 full Mandrax tablets; 17 quarters Mandrax tablets; nine halves Mandrax tablets; dagga weighing 824g; 37 small dagga stashets; and four medium dagga stashes. All dagga weighed 1,926 kg with cash that amounts to R3719,30.

Members proceeded to another house and arrested a 37-year-old man for dealing in drugs. They found and seized 80 halves Mandrax tablets; 82 quarters Mandrax tablets; 15 full Mandrax tablets; 22 Tik drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Arrested suspects appeared before Wesselsbron Magistrates Court on Friday, 5 November 2021.

Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded members for a job well-done.
