Welkom POP Reaction Team; Crime Intelligence; Meloding SAPS; and Hennenman SAPS hit hard on drug dealers within the District.
On Tuesday, 16 November 2021, Welkom Public Order Policing Reaction Team approached several houses in Phahameng, Bultfontein during Crime Combating.
In Steve Biko Street, police found a 39-year-old man in possession of six CAT drugs sachets; two full Mandrax tablets; six halves; and eight quarters. They seized the drugs and an amount of R76.
Furthermore, police arrested another suspect (30) for dealing drugs in the informal settlement. They seized 12 full Mandrax tablets and cash amounting to R 121,50.
On the same day, authorities approached and arrested a 54-year-old man in Serope Section, Phahameng. They found two 50kg bags full of dagga. He will face dealing in dagga.
Crime Intelligence continued with Crime Combating in Henneman, and gathered information on a 24-year-old man in Phomolong.
Along with Hennenman SAPS, CI approached the young man’s house and found 45 dagga pokes weighing 300g, and valued at R1 350. The suspect is facing possession of dagga.
These suspects will appear in Bultfontein and Hennenman Magistrate Courts respectively.
Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded this joint venture and praised residents for trusting police with information that led to arrests and seizure of drugs.
