Ten suspects were caught with drugs in their premises near the Kroonstad’s long distance taxi rank by the Kroonstad’s Trio Task Team of police officers on Friday, 1 April.
This follows a joint operation that was led by the Free State Province organized crime unit with the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team.
According to the district’s police spokesperson captain Malebo Khosana, the task team gathered a tip-off over drug dealing in the area.
“All the involved role players came just in time when the suspects were already in transition, performing their day to day drug transactions.
“ Ten suspects comprising of seven men and three women were arrested as they were caught red-handed in possession of drugs,” said Khosana.
Drugs recovered consisted of Mandrax, Crystal Meth, CAT, nyaope and dagga all with an estimated street value of about R350 000, and R120 000 in cash.
The police uncovered drugs such as mandrax, crystal meth, CAT, nyaope and dagga.
Khosana said all suspects nabbed, are aged between 22 and 45 and they have been charged for possession of drugs.
“Some of them will be charged with additional charges of being illegal immigrants,” he said.
The suspects will appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court soon.
