The police in Meloding have made three arrests after a woman was gang-raped by a group of ten men on Tuesday, 8 February.
Lejweleputswa police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said, the police’s crime intelligence made the swift arrest of the suspects following a tracing operation, and the hunt for other suspects still continues.
“On the 28 January 2022 at about 22:00, a 21-year-old woman was at her rented room in Meloding when ten unknown African men including her boyfriend entered her room carrying knives,” said Thakeng.
“They took turns in raping her and the same suspects came the following day on the 29 January 2022 at 20:00.
The victim was gang raped again by the suspects,” he further revealed.
A case of rape was registered for further investigation by the district police unit.
Three alleged rapists aged 25, 29 and 30 years old will appear before the Virginia Magistrate Court soon.
