The Bothaville police made a swift arrest of two men with a 35-year-old suspect allegedly involved in a house breaking of an elderly woman who was raped and fatally stabbed.
Following hard efforts to trace the perpetrators of this incident, two arrests were effected.
“The members of Bothaville SAPS led by captain Nzungwa Nzungwa managed to follow up the leads and a 35 year old man was arrested within an hour after the incident was reported,” revealed police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng.
Unpacking the predicaments of what transpired on Thursday, the 23 December, at about 23:20, captain Thakeng said, a60-year-old woman was asleep at her home, when she was awoken by noise and went out from her bedroom to check.
“She saw an African man standing inside her house and who forced himself inside her bedroom. The victim was assaulted, strangled and undressed the elderly woman,” revealed Thakeng.
“He inserted his tongue twice in the private part of the elderly woman and robbed cash that amounts to R300.
“The suspect left the scene and the incident was reported to Bothaville Police Station,” detailed Thakeng.
In a separate incident, on today at about 03:40, members of Bothaville SAPS, attended a crime scene at an Informal settlement near Tshehetso Primary School and discovered a body of a 18-year-old man.
The deceased was identified as Tumelo Andries Thomas and was found lying on the ground with six stab wounds on his upper body.
The deceased was declared dead by EMS personnel.
A designated police officer who attended the scene also managed to arrest a 32-year-old man for murder.
Both suspects will appear before the Bothaville Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 28 December.
The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Major General Lerato Molale applauded the quick response by members of Bothaville SAPS who ensured that these suspects were arrested to face the might of the law.
