The elderly woman, Manana Alice Masiu (69) who was reported missing on 23 December, was found half naked under a tree lying upwards in Nuwenton farm, Hennenman on Thursday, 30 December.
On the day of her last seen, Masiu was attending a church service in Senekal.
A missing file was registered for further investigation by detective warrant officer Gerrie Nel.
“Then on the 30 December 2021 at about 08:55 members of Hennenman SAPS were informed about the body of a woman found in a farm in Hennenman,” read a media statement from Welkom police.
“On arrival of Sergeant Malebo Ramathe and Constable Dimakatso Kgwari , the body of an elderly woman was found half naked under a tree lying upwards in Nuwenton farm.
The next of kins from Thabong arrived and managed to identify the deceased as Mme Manana Alice Masiu aged 69- years-old,” statement further read.
The Welkom police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said an inquest has been registered by the Hennenman SAPS and the case is assigned to Detective Constable Monaheng Mokeki of Hennenman Detective Services.
