Tablets suspected to be mandrax worth an estimated amount of R7 000 were discovered by the crime prevention team, following a tip-off on Thursday.
The members Constables Sello Malefane and Maditaba Mantso were performing Crime Prevention duties when they were informed about a house where drugs could be found.
They approached that address in Seeisoville, Maokeng. On arrival they knocked and a woman opened the door and allowed them inside.
Reason for their visit was made known to the woman who granted them permission to search.
Upon searching in the bedroom, a handbag was found containing a transparent plastic with tablets. When asked about the tablets she could not give a clear account.
She was the arrested and tablets suspected to be mandrax were seized.
On further investigation the tablets were counted and found to be about 70 with an estimated street
value of R7 000.00.
“This 50 year old woman will be charged for possession of substance suspected to be drugs,” statement read from the police.
“She is expected to appear at Kroonstad Magistrates’ Court soon,” statement further read.
Fezile Dabi Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane lauded the community members for alerting local police about this criminal element.
“We encourage our community members to keep on giving us this valuable information to squeeze the space of criminals in our communities,” said Brigadier Mbeloane.
