Welkom : A concerned resident of Welkom tipped the police about drug dealings operation in Welkom.
A foreigner was arrested with drugs like CAT, Crystal Meth and Extacy.
He will appear on Monday in Welkom Magistrate Court. Member applauded for a job well done.
According to a released statement, on, 2 September 2021 at about 09:00 a member of Welkom K9 Unit received information from a member of the community about a foreigner dealing in drugs.
The information was instantly followed up and then a house in Buren Street Dagbreek Welkom was approached.
A request was made to search the premises and members found 62 grams of CAT, 57,5 grams of Crystal Meth and 60 Extacy tablets with the estimated street value of R35 400.
A 48 year old African man was arrested and is charged with possession of drugs.
He will appear on the 6 September 2021 in Welkom Magistrate Court.
“We regard this arrest and seizure of these drugs as a breakthrough, because they might have landed in the hands of our future leaders – youth,” a statement read.
Information from residents of Welkom shows people are sick and tired of drugs. Captain Wasmuth’s quick response is lauded says the Acting District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Brigadier Mzondi Mojafi.
