A body of a missing 10-year-old girl was discovered in an open field in Winnie Park, Bronville by the police.
According to Welkom police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng, the deceased was reported missing last night .
Captain Thakeng said motive of the killing is unknown and the police are continuing with investigations.
It is further reported that there were no visible injuries to the deceased, however she had bruises on her arms, legs and on her neck.
“The body was identified as the one of Maserame Violet Morikgihlane from Extension 15 Bronville,” said captain Thakeng.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that she was reported missing on the 01 December at Bronville Police Station according to police records. The family has been informed about the incident,” he added.
A case of murder has been registered for further investigation.
