Flying Squad launched manhunt of two foreigners after attending a complaint of a woman stabbed next to a tavern in Buren Street, Dagbreek, Welkom on Saturday, 08 January 2022.
Upon arrival at around 23:57, members found the woman’s body lying on the ground at the crime scene near the raven’s gate.
The body had multiple stab wounds on the upper torso; the neck and also an open wound reminiscent to slaughtering. The passport found on the deceased revealed the woman to be 29 years old and originating from Lesotho.
Emergency Medical Services personnel certified the woman dead at the scene.
“The motive for the killing remains unknown, and police decided to withhold the name as they have not formally informed next of kins about the death of their loved one,” stated Captain Stephen Thakeng.
