The following Police Stations, Boshof; Odendaalsrus; Bronville; Welkom along with Thabong Task Team; Theunissen private securities and Provincial Traffic, conducted roadblocks and Vehicle Check Points (VCPs) throughout the district on Friday, 07 January 2022.
“Operation Safer Festive Season continues to target stolen properties; ferrous/non-ferrous metals; road traffic offences; illegal firearms; illicit drugs; stock theft and driving under the influence of liquor,” says Captain Stephen Thakeng.
Boshof SAPS conducted a roadblock on R64 road from 14:00 to 17:00. Throughout the operation, they stopped and searched 78 vehicles and 127.
This led to the issue of five traffic related fines; three fines for failure to display license disc; two fines for driving without licenses; operating a taxi without a permit and drunkenness.
In Odendaalsrus, members held a VCP at Kutloanong entrance in K6 from 16:00 to 18:00. Station Commander, Colonel Thenjiwe Mkhumbeni led the operation.

They effected two arrests for dagga possession weighing 0,74g and Nyaope drugs weighing 0,12g; two other arrests for drunken driving and one Road Traffic Act fine issued.
Bronville SAPS also held a VCP and issued five Road Traffic Act fines.
In Koppie Allen/Orange circle, Welkom SAPS members held a roadblock accompanied by private security companies. Vehicles and persons were searched.

Theunissen SAPS also held a joint roadblock with Provincial Traffic in ZR Mahabane road.
Thabong Trio Task Team arrested the most wanted suspect in the foreigner-tuck-shop break-ins case. Perpetrator(s) broke into the premises with a hammer until they gained entrance to rob groceries; cash; air time vouchers, etc.
Members held the operation from 06 January 2022 at 21:00 till 07 January 2022 at 05:00. The 29-years-old called the “Hammer Group” is facing Business Robbery; Attempted murder and Conspiracy to commit business robberies.
Two suspects were arrested for possession of dangerous weapons.
Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, applauded all Police Stations within Lejweleputswa District that ensured safety on the roads.
He also applauded Thabong SAPS on the arrests and concluded with, “We will never rest until we arrest all of them”.
