Court postpones bail application for suspects accused of murdering ANC ward councillor

Two suspects linked with the murder of ANC ward councillor candidate last year in September 2021, their bail application was postponed citing challenging consultation circumstances.

Suspects who appeared before the Virginia magistrate court on Friday, 4 February, are currently held in custody facing a charge of murder.

This emanates from the brutal killing of the late Piet Moletse who was fatally shot in his tavern in Meloding, Virginia.

“The late Piet Moletse who was ANC ward councillor candidate, was closing a tavern in Meloding when he was attacked by two assailants and fatally shooting him.,” said Lejweleputswa media liaison officer captain Stephen Thakeng.

“A case of murder was registered and investigated by Provincial Anti Gang Unit, and the two suspects were arrested last week and they appeared before court on Friday, 4 February,” added Thakeng.

The suspects Retshidisitswe Mutsi (31) and Mr Relebohile Diefo (34) are charged with murder and their bail application hearing is postponed till the 10 February 2022.
