The Kagisanong police has launched a manhunt after an old woman’s body was discovered by an ally who tipped the police on Tuesday, 8 February.
According to the police spokesperson colonel Thabo Covane, a 65-year-old woman was brutally murdered in the one of the informal settlement called, JB Mafora in Mangaung.
It is alleged that a friend of the deceased visited her home, and to what turned out as a shocking discovery, she found the kitchen’s security door and entry door left ajar.
“The friend entered the house and proceeded to the bedroom that she found turned upside down. She then called the neighbours who then called the police,” said colonel Covane.
“Neighbours said they last saw the victim on Sunday, 06 February,” he added further.
Upon police arrival, they discovered the victim’s body underneath a pile of blankets on the ground.
The body sustained bruises and injuries, which clearly showed that victim was assaultrd with a blunt object and strangled to death,” Covane further added.
The police registered a case of murder and investigations are continuing.
