A 24-year-old woman is behind bars for an alleged vigilante attack, that was sparked by the murder of a 45-year-old foreign national in Bainsvleiman, Bloemfontein.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane, the horrific spat between the suspect and the deceased took place on Saturday, 29 January in Abrahamskraal Road near Mooiwater, Bainsvlei.
“A patrol vehicle was dispatched to attend and on arrival discovered the body of an African male covered in blood on the side of the road,” says Covane.
The police were able to get hold of the victim’s passport, and he was identified as the 45-year-old foreign national residing at Plot 3 Ednau Road in Bainsvlei.
The suspect who identified herself as the assailant was still on the scene.
It is alleged that the suspect had asthmatic attack and she claims that the victim slapped her on the face.
The suspect then retaliated by fatally stabbing the victim with a broken bottle neck on the right arm.
The suspect is originally from Grysdorp in North West, and she was a visitor in Ednau Road.
Covane states, the police made a swift arrest of the 24 year old African female at about 15:40, and a case of murder was opened at Bainsvlei Police Station.
The suspect will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 1 February.
