Manhunt launched for two suspects for ‘gang-rape’ in Hoopstad

The police have launched a manhunt for two suspects, who allegedly gang-raped a 16-year-old teenage girl from Tikwana, Hoopstad.

According to the Lejweleputswa District spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng, it is alleged that, the incident took place on Saturday, 6 February in the evening.

“A 16-year-old was walking home when two African males approached her.

“One of the suspects closed her mouth with a cloth and took her into the first place of the new stands in the dark and raped her once,” said Thakeng.

“The other suspect ran away from the scene. This alleged rapist also ran away when he heard people passing by,” he said.

Thakeng further said that, a case of rape was opened in Hoopstad police station and identikit was therefore attached.

Describing the suspect, Thakeng said he is dark in complexion, he is muscular and 2,0m in height.

“He was wearing a black cap, white Dickies t-shirt, black tracksuit pants and a blue all star sneakers,”.

“ He had a black short hair and beard. The suspect could be between ages of 25 to 35 years old, he was speaking Sotho,” Stephen Thakeng described physical appearance of the suspect.
