Manhunt launched for four jewellery thieves

The Welkom police have launched a search for three women and a man in connection with a jewelry theft that occurred at Roosmayn Street in Jim Fouche Park, Welkom.

The four suspects pretended to be interested in a house put up for sale on 02 December 2021.

The 65-year-old house owner alleged that she was at home, parking her vehicle in the garage and the gate was open. Suddenly, a white Ford Eco Sport with HDF 290 FS registration number entered the yard.

Furthermore, the house owner alleged that a lady got out of the vehicle and introduced herself as Patricia Mabuza. Apparently, the lady claimed to be looking for a house to buy and had seen the ‘for sale’ sign outside.

According to the police report, the complainant told the the lady and her companions to contact an agent for arrangements.

“The lady responded that they tried calling but could not find the agent,” read the report.

As a result, the house owner gave the four persons permission to look at the house and they spread out.

After the four left, the complainant realized that her jewellery that worth thousands of rands had been stolen.

Lejweleputswa police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng said the police registered a theft case for further investigation.
