A man has been arrested at his hideout after the fatal stabbing of his 33-year-old girlfriend in Thabong, Welkom.
The suspect, aged 44, was arrested in Thabong, by members of the Thabong police task team after receiving information about his hideout in the area.
It is alleged that the suspect stabbed his defenseless girlfriend four times with a knife.
“We received a report on January 30 at about 8:24 p.m. when we arrived at the scene, a woman was lying in a pool of blood, stabbed four times on her breast,” said Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng.
The South African Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene of crime and pronounced the patient dead.
“When Ms. Elizabeth Binza arrived she identified the deceased as her granddaughter, Makopano Jeanette Molelekoa.
“The suspect was taken into custody, and the murder weapon was seized.
“The motive for the fatal stabbing is currently unknown, and the investigation still continues,” said
Thakeng.
The suspect will appear before the Welkom Magistrate Court on Thursday, February 1.
