Karabo Phoshoane- a resilient charismatic published author destined for success

Karabo Phoshoane, a published author with two books under her belt, is also the founder of the Beam of Light Organization (NPO).

Born on May 19, 2000, she was raised by her grandmother in Thaba Nchu, Free State. When she turned 15, she moved in with her parents, but tragedy struck at 17 when she lost her father. Since then, her mother has been raising her and her three siblings on her own.

Karabo has always been a young, motivated and versatile lady who has shown great perseverance in her life. She has strong leadership qualities.

Kasi Voice News has recognised her achievements and is now showing its appreciation by making her good deeds known to the world. The first book Karabo has published is titled “Transversing in the Mind: Relentless Thinking’.

“My book was born from pain and relentless thoughts that nearly caused brain damage. I was constantly thinking about all the pain I’ve been through and how I nearly committed suicide, but by the grace of God, I conquered my depression and anxiety with the support of my mother, who always prayed for me and told me to always go to church and pray.

The book is about thoughts that go back and forth within our heads when things don’t go well and the whole world is hostile toward you. And yet you just keep pushing, irrespective of the negativity that surrounds you.” Explained the author.

Her favorite line from the book is: “You are less likely to be happy once you start making more assumptions and efforts on things that refuse to grow, no matter how sustained the source is.”

The second book is titled ‘Hope Restored’.

It is a fiction-based reality book in which the author tells the narrative of a young black girl who survived childhood abuse—emotional and physical abuse—instead of being helpless and feeling sorry for what had happened.

Paige had the strength to believe in the face of adversity and to hope for the best even when things seemed bleak. The author describes how damaging it is for children to grow up without the presence of both parents and with them living on opposite sides of town.

Paige managed to hope during a difficult period in her life, even when what she wished for appeared impossible to achieve.

Examining the chapters in detail paints a vivid image of how an abused child could feel about her body in particular.

The author exposes families who portray a good image of themselves and want to be seen as close and united in public when, in actual fact, they are hiding and shielding bad deeds that one family member commits against the other.

In this case, a child was sexually abused by an uncle who claimed that the child was fully grown. Sadly, the family who was supposed to protect and support a child asks her not to tell.

The victim finally gathers courage, and with the support of her grandmother, she opens a rape case, and the family gets upset. How ironic!

This book is aimed at everyone who may have doubts about their abilities.

Apart from the two books, Karabo is also the founder of the Beam of Light Organization (B.O.L.O.).

This NPO was established in the year 2023, in the month of September. It is dedicated to youth development and child welfare. Its main goal is to help less fortunate families and advance public welfare as opposed to maximizing profit.

B.O.L.O. is not motivated by profit; rather, its mission is to serve the underprivileged in society. It is the kind of organization that benefits society and the general public by being both philanthropic and educational. It offers school supplies, shoes, toiletries, stationery, and occasional food parcels to those in need. . It is known for its kind gesture that spreads from one heart to the next by giving back to the less privileged.

“The love I have for children and the community as a whole encouraged me to come up with ways that can put a smile on someone’s face and make life easy for them in a way. So the organization is a way for me to give back to the community,” said Karabo.

Karabo says they currently don’t have any funders or sponsors. “We use all revenues available after every normal operating expense for the public interest, and we self-generate cash through book sales.” She explained.

Furthermore, she draws strength and inspiration from her mother, as she raised the four of them without a job after their father’s demise. She kept the ship afloat despite how strong the storms sometimes were.

Karabo is driven by the very same passion that drove her mother to raise her with the most love and care.

“That same love shaped me into being a better person, and I always strive to make a huge difference in other people’s lives.” She said.

B.O.L.O. has managed to help over 60 youths and children for the past 5 months with toiletries, stationary, and school shoes. Financial challenges are the major issue at the moment.

Their purpose is to reach out to millions of people around the world who are in desperate need of their selfless service, carrying out the mission of Ubuntu. . The community has the opportunity to support the organization through crowdfunding.

“As the founder, I’ve always wished for a school of art like the ones we often see in American movies, and I think it’s possible for an African child to achieve such a thing. I plan to grow the foundation through development programs, providing scholarships, teaching children, and stopping hunger through the implementation of agricultural skills. I believe in ‘working with what you have with whoever is willing’ and the life torch must be passed to the next generation.” She elaborated.

Karabo wants to express her thanks to her mom, her church, people like Dj Zondi Charity Drive, VW Charity Drive, the Thaba-Nchu community, all the organizations that backed Beam of Light’s vision and mission, and all those who genuinely support their cause.
