The alleged driver involved in the gruesome murder of Thabong woman is facing charges of defeating the ends of justice for helping the suspect to flee the scene following shooting spree in Thabong, Welkom.
According to the police media liaison officer sergeant Fikiswa Matoti, the driver of the “Datsun Go” motorvehicle is behind bars, and search continues for the mastermind behind the murder case.
It is alleged that on Sunday, 30 January, a group of ladies were sitting in a street corner when a car silver, with two male patrons approached the crew.
“The driver of this vehicle called one from the ladies and they spoke. The passenger got out of the car, cocked his firearm and pointed it to the ladies, fired a shot that hit one of the ladies on the right armpit and got inside the car and it drove off,” states sergeant Matoti.
“The driver then took the suspect home and went back to the scene of the crime and took the victim to hospital and was later certified dead by the doctor who attended to her.
“The driver was later arrested by Thabong police and charged with defeating the ends of justice for helping the suspect who is responsible for the shooting to escape the scene,” Matoti says.
Police pleads with community members or anyone who has the information that can lead to the arrest of the wanted suspect to contact detective sergeant Keke Sithole of Thabong SAPS at 082 443 6151.
