A man killed a woman by hitting her with a hammer in an “unprovoked, brutal and frenzied attack of the utmost ferocity” eyewitnesses said.
It is alleged that a blind man believed to be in his late 30s, and struck his woman also believed to be in the same age group, multiple times on the head at their home in Thabong, Welkom.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, as it was suspected that altercation between the two took a sway in which resulted in split of blood.
Following the horrific scenery, residents called the police for serious intervention.
One of the bystanders said: “It is quite shocking what we have discovered, we found a lifeless body of a woman in pool of blood, following this horrific scene.”
“After discovering this shocking incident, we called the police immediately,” said the bystander.
The case of murder has been opened, and the perpetrator was arrested following this incident facing charges of murder and defeating ends of justice.
