Police shoot and kill murder suspect during shootout

Koppies SAPS opened attempted murder; and murder cases for investigation, after a farm murder suspect lost his life in Weltevreden, Koppies on Tuesday, 30 November 2021.

Weltenvreden is within a close proximity of Bosloo Farm, where attackers gunned down Johan Prinsloo (73) earlier today.

SAPS members; Tactical Response Team (TRT); and farming community were on a manhunt for four suspects when they received a call about an armed man at a neighboring plot.

“Members rushed to the plot and noticed the suspect. When they approached him, suspect ran into the bushy forest and started shooting at the police,” stated Brigadier Motantsi Makhele.

Authorities retaliated and shot the suspect. He fell under a tree where he tried taking cover during the shooting. Police found a pistol with two magazines next to his body.

His accomplices could not be found.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and certified the suspect dead.

The man’s identity is however, still unknown.

He has a tattoo on his left arm written “3M4 Jonas Mosola” and one on the right hand written “Diphoso”. Police hope that this information will help the deceased’s next of kin in identifying the suspect.

Brigadier Makhele reported, “Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) will investigate this case of the shot, and killed suspect. Investigation regarding the farmer’s murder and attempted murder Koppies Detectives.”
