Police investigates murder case after Bosloo farmer brutally killed

The police are investigating a murder case after a Bosloo farmer was brutally killed in his own farm in Koppies, on Tuesday.

According to Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motansi Mokhele, the farm owner, Johan Prinsloo 73, was allegedly on the farm with employees at about 07:30 am when suddenly a gun wielding man screamed at him and one of his male employees and started firing shots randomly.

The two ran for cover and another shot was fired.

“They started running towards different directions. However, another shot went off and the farmer fell on the ground,” revealed Makhele.

It is further alleged that, other workers also ran away for their lives.

“According to information we received, there were about four assailants who also ran away leaving Mr. Prinsloo lying on the ground motionless,” Makhele explained.

Police and emergency services personnel arrived at the scene and the farmer was declared dead.

Thus far, preliminary investigation revealed that nothing was stolen from the scene.

A case of murder has been opened for further investigation to the crux matter.

The Provincial Commissioner of Free State, general Baile Motswenyane instructed the police to work around the clock and to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
