Investigation underway following farmer’s murder in Koppies

Police opened a murder case for investigation following Bosloo farmer murder on Tuesday, 30 November 2021, in Koppies.

“Allegedly, Johan Prinsloo (73) was on the farm with employees on Tuesday morning. Suddenly, a man welding a gun screamed at him and one of his male employees,” reported Brigadier Motantsi Makhele.

Furthermore, the man stated to randomly fire shots and the two ran for cover in different directions. Other workers also ran away for their lives.

However, a shot went off and the farmer fell on the ground.

“According to information received, four attackers also ran away leaving the victim lying on the ground motionless,” added Brigadier Makhele.

Police and emergency services personnel arrived at the scene and declared the farmer dead.

Thus far, preliminary investigation revealed attackers stole nothing from the scene.

A case of murder was opened for further investigation.

A team consisting of detective services; VISPOL; CI units; and other strategic partners are hard working hard to catch perpetrators.

Free State Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, instructed the team to work around the clock to bring perpetrators to justice.
