A number of murder incidents reported in various towns within the Fezile Dabi District over long weekend.
Community members are strongly warned not to take matters into their own hands but to seek assistance from the police.
The first incident occurred at Oranjeville. A couple (34 and 36) was arrested in Gqeberha for murder of the wife’s mother and male relative on Thursday, 24 September 2021.
Cases of two murders, house robbery and theft of motor vehicle were opened for further investigation. The couple appeared at Heilbron Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 September 2021.
In the second incident, a suspect was arrested in Namahadi Frankfort for murder of a male inside a shack on Friday, 24 September 2021.
This was after a heated quarrel between people who know each other. Suspect appeared at court on Monday, 27 September 2021.
In Kroonstad, three suspects (20, 21 and 23) were arrested for alleged murder of an unknown male estimated to be 25 years old on Saturday, 25 September 2021.
The incident occurred near a student accommodations.
The victim died after arriving at the hospital. Trio suspects were arrested and appeared before court on Monday, 27 September 2021.
In the last incident, a 54 year old lady was found by the police dead at her house in Zamdela on Saturday, 25 September 2021 at around 00:15. She was brutally stabbed with a sharp instrument on the face and body.
The suspect is had not been arrested.
The Acting District Commissioner Brigadier, Mapulane Mbeloane, requests the community to refrain from taking matters into their own hands.
“Allow us to execute our duties as police officials than resorting to solving things yourselves. However we are grateful for the perpetrators who are put behind bars for committing such gruesome acts,” concluded Brigadier Mbeloane.
