Kgosi Sehume (34), appeared before Vredefort Magistrate’s Court for his father’s murder after stabbing him at home in Mokwallo, Vredefort.
“The suspect was at home with his girlfriend and father on Saturday evening, 27 November 2021 when a fight broke out over meat,” reported Sergeant Josephine Rani from Fezile Dabi District Communication.
Allegedly, Sehume wanted to take the meat bought by the victim, but the victim refused. During their argument, the 34-year-old son stabbed his 55-year-old father twice under the left arm and ran away.
The victim tried to chase the suspect, but fell down and died on the spot.
Neighbors witnessed the victim fall after hearing noises from the argument. They then called the police.
“Warrant Officer Petrus Nhlapo arrested the suspect at one of his friends house not far from his home,” added Sergeant Rani.
The suspect currently in custody and will appear again in court on Thursday, 02 December 2021, for bail application.
