The Thabong police acted with a swift response, as they were busy with crime combatting duties in Thabong, when they nabbed one of the notorious gangs for the alleged business robbery.
“We received information about the whereabouts of one of the “hammer-gang” members. This notorious gang is alleged to be involved in a string of Business Robberies at foreign national owned tuck shops in Thabong where a hammer is used to break the wall to gain entry,” read a statement from the police.
In a statement, the police said they followed up on the information about the alleged suspect, and on Monday afternoon, they found him at a house in Thubelisha in Thabong.
“At the house, some of the suspected stolen properties and cash were found. The suspect also admitted on the spot that he is indeed one of the so called “hammer-gang” members,” read the statement.
It is alleged that, as the further investigations were undergoing, another alleged gang member was arrested at his house in Dooringpan, and some of the robbed items were also confiscated.
“The two suspects aged 28 and 29 will soon be brought before court on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and business robberies,” statement read.
“This is a major breakthrough as these two suspects can be linked to atleast 10 cases in the area. I applaud the members for their diligence and swift reaction,” said the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in the Free State: Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.
