A 37-year-old man, allegedly involved in the gruesome murder of a young Thabong woman aged 19-year-old was arrested last night, October 23, following a sting operation by SAPS.
His arrest comes after he allegedly doused petrol and set his girlfriend alight.
Lejweleputswa police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng, revealed that, the gruesome incident occurred this past weekend, where the two had a quarrel, and a teenage girl was physically attacked before the perpetrator set his partner alight.
“On Saturday, October 20, at about 08:29, a 19-year-old woman was admitted with 90% burn wounds and she managed to relate to the nurse that the suspect was her boyfriend who resides in Thabong,” Thakeng elaborates.
“He doused her with petrol and set her alight,” adds Thakeng.
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, and a case of murder has been registered.
Thakeng detailed that the suspect was also admitted in a hospital as he sustained burn wounds, and he is currently under the police’s surveillance.
