Two foreign nationals, a man and woman, are set to appear before the Welkom Magistrate Court tomorrow, 19 May, after found with dagga in their home.

The Thabong police confiscated large quantity of dagga at the home of the duo.

Lejweleputswa district police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng said, the police officer who was off duty during the time of the incident received a tip-off from one of residents about people who are selling dagga in the community.

“Police officers who were on duty were given this helpful information and together they worked with Thabong Crime Prevention to catch the dealers,” Thakeng said.

He said off-duty officers visited the house, and the suspects were not willing to cooperate as they denied access entry to the police officers.

“The house was approached and members (police officers) had to jump inside the yard, as the suspects were resistant in opening the gate for officers.

“But he ultimately opened the door and permission was granted to each the house. While police officers were searching dagga it was found everywhere in the house and seized,” elaborated Thakeng.

Thakeng further said the dagga discovered in a refuse bag weighed approximately 11,39 kg.
