Cops clamp down foreign national with ARVs in Bronville worth R25k

A foreign national was arrested on Friday, 13 May, with tons of ARV tablets in Bronville, Welkom.

Lejweleputswa district police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said the 31-year-old man was approached by a team of crime intelligence after a tip-off, and was found with 25 ARVs valued at R25 000.

Thakeng said the police conducted a thorough investigation as to where the suspect acquired the ARV tablets.

“Residents gave police information to SAPS members which led to the seizure of ARV tablets and a foreign national was arrested,” said Thakeng.

Containers full of ARV tablets found and seized at Hani Park Bronville.

“The suspect is facing Contravention of Medical Control Act,” Thakeng revealed.

The foreign national is due to appear before the Welkom Magistrate Court on 16 May.
