The renowned businessman and owner of Sunrise and Easy Term supermarkets in Thabong, Welkom, Motheane Abraham Nyamane, was shot dead by unknown suspects on his arrival at home on Friday, July 29.
Nyamane was ambushed and fatally shot when he arrived in his home, and succumbed to the shot wounds when he arrived at Bongani hospital, said police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng.
Thakeng said the 63-year-old was attacked by group of unknown men at around 7pm, and the police were instantly notified of the incident and swiftly attended the scene.
“Members of Thabong SAPS, got a complaint of shooting, and on their arrival, Nyamane was taken to the hospital by his children for medical attention,” he said.
“He sadly passed on arrival at the hospital. The deceased sustained two shot wounds on his right lower jam and two shot wounds on his left-hand,” detailed Thakeng.
Thakeng told Kasi Voice News that, the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage, but a case of murder has been opened.
“The motive of the killing is currently unknown, and nothing was robbed from him,” he said.
Thabong residents took to social media to express their heartfelt condolences to his family.
