Double murder charges for bitter ex-boyfriend who butchered girlfriend over suspected affair

Viljoenskroon man is facing double murder charges over the alleged killing of his ex-girlfriend and the son of the brutally murdered woman he suspected she was cheating with.

A 34-year-old Viljoenskroon woman and her son have been stabbed to death by a furious ex-boyfriend in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The police said the 30-year-old male went to his ex-girlfriend’s house where he suspected that she was sleeping with her current boyfriend.

“Upon his arrival at the ex-girlfriend’s home, he stabbed her to death and hit her son with hammer on. The suspect allegedly (he) thought the son was the current boyfriend to the ex-girlfriend,” said Fezile Dabi region police spokesperson captain Malebo Khosana.

“The suspect fled the scene after the sad incident. The mother and her 14-year-old were pronounced dead by the paramedics upon their arrival,” further revealed Khosana.

Khosana said with the help of the community, the investigating officer was able to locate and arrest the suspect.

The suspect is set to appear before the Viljoenskroon Magistrate Court, on tomorrow, 18 May.
