A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his stepfather multiple times, following a heated argument between the father and the suspect.
The police in Frankfort registered a case of attempted murder on Tuesday, after the victim (stepfather) pressed charges against his stepson.
Police spokesperson, captain Malebo Khosana said the suspect inflicted severe injuries to his father after a spat occurred in their home yesterday, 17 May in Phomolong Section, Frankfort.
It is alleged by the 42-year-old father of the arrested son that prior to the whole incident, they were all at home including his wife.
“He mentioned that he approached his step son who was still asleep to ask him why was he insulting him and his wife (step son’s mother),” says Khosana.
“He further alleged that after waking up, the son stood in front of him and stabbed him with a knife on the arm and the furious fight began.
“It is reported that during the fight, they both fell on the ground with the victim on top of the suspect who continued to stab his stepfather on the back for several occasions.
The wife managed to take the knife from the son and threw it away and tried to separate them without succeeding,” adds Khosana.
Captain Khosana says neighbors were called by the wife and they managed to separate the two.
“The father was rushed to the local hospital with the neighbour’s car,” he says.
“The victim was later discharged from hospital. He then pressed charges against his step son,” he unpacked further.
The suspect was arrested and charged for attempted murder.
He made his brief appearance before the Frankfort Magistrates Court today, and his case was postponed to Tuesday, 24 May for further investigation.
The suspect, Mpho Khoase remains in custody.
