Squatter camp mass murder claims four lives

Police investigations are underway following murder of four people in Angelo Squatter Camp, Boksburg in Gauteng province.

Speaking to Kasi Voice News, Brigadier Kweza of the Boksburg police in Gauteng confirmed that the police have launched a manhunt for gunmen who shot four people last week.

On Tuesday, July 16, a tragic incident shook the Angelo squatter camp in Boksburg, South Africa following this brutal mass murder.

According to a report by Kasi Voice News, an informant from the community suggested that one of the victims, a male resident originally from Steek Spruit, might have been targeted due to his involvement in or knowledge of recent meetings held near an old, defunct mining shaft.

These gatherings allegedly involved zama zama miners, notorious for their illicit operations in abandoned mines across the region.

In another account from an anonymous resident of Angelo squatter camp, suspicions leaned towards internal disputes among abasotho gangs as the possible motive behind the fatal shootings. “We don’t know why they did so,” the resident lamented, recalling the grim sight of four lifeless bodies left sprawled on the ground after the gunfire subsided.

Brigadier Kweza confirmed the initiation of a criminal investigation, marking the incident as a priority case. “The motive for the killings is unclear at this stage,” stated Brigadier Kweza, emphasizing that no arrests have been made yet in connection with the crime.
