Family of Portia Mosupa finds closure after body exhumed in another pre-existing grave

The family of Disebo Portia Mosupa, whose remains were found buried in an occupied grave are reeling in shock and grief. 

Speaking to Kasi Voice News, Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motansi Makhele revealed to the publication that the body that has now been confirmed is of Mosupa – who was found buried at Thabong Cemetery, known as Phumlani this morning. 

Details surrounding the circumstances of her disappearance and the shocking discovery are still emerging. 

“Upon receiving information about Disebo’s disappearance, a team of police investigators, community members, and family members embarked on a thorough search, which led to a body being found at Thabong Cemeteries. 

“The body which was buried in a used grave, was exhumed this morning by forensic investigators,” Makhele said. 

Kasi Voice News sought clarification from Makhele regarding the term “used grave.” Makhele explained that the body was discovered approximately 2 meters above another pre-existing grave.

Makhele said, family members and friends gather in disbelief, seeking solace in each other’s company during this tragic moment.

The 30-year-old Mosupa had been reported missing since July 12, sparking an intensive search effort by local authorities and concerned loved ones. 

The solemn confirmation of her fate has left her family devastated and grappling with an unimaginable loss.

One suspect, aged 37, has been arrested for murder, and investigations are continuing.
