An investigation is under way after a foreign national was found hanging in a tree – in what has been labelled as a murder-suicide according to the Gauteng police.
According to a source, the lifeless body of an unknown man, was discovered by a passerby in Marathon Informal Settlement, in Germiston.
Confirming the investigation, the police officer stationed at Germiston Police Station, captain Neldah Sekgobela revealed to Kasi Voice News reporter, that they received the report at the wake hours of Saturday, April 13, when a passerby saw a body hanging in a tree and reported the matter to the police.
“On arrival at the crime scene, the police discovered a 34-year-old man hanging from a tree suspected to have committed suicide.” he said.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity revealed to Kasi Voice News reporter that the Mozambican man had a heated argument with his wife on Friday, April 12 – a day before he took his last breath.
“There was a loud noise coming from their house, and the two were fighting inside their shack, and suddenly it all went quite and we thought they resolved their issues, only to have discovered this shocking scene in the early hours of Saturday morning,” revealed a source.
It is alleged that the wife of the deceased has fled the scene and the police are probing the murder-suicide case as the details are sketchy to what could have led to the death of the 34-years-old man.
Captain Sekgobela confirmed to Kasi Voice News that the case of murder has been registered and the investigations are continuing, “Circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.”
