Welkom Partnership Policing conducts a joint operation with Neighborhood Watch; Security Companies; CPF; and Social Development for awareness and ensuring police visibility.
In a effort to ensure the safety of Welkom residents, Welkom Partnership Policing organized a joined operation led by Captains Mphatsoe and Coetzee.
They visited liquor outlets, highlighted criminal acts to patrons and emphasized compliance of the law.
Furthermore, they made awareness on GBV; sexual offences; drug and substance abuse. Women were sternly warned to be careful of being drugged during their drinking spree.
Lastly, women must be careful motorists pretending to offer lifts from taverns, but ultimately rob and rape unsuspecting victims.
Targeted taverns included Alice; Giovannis; Mabatho; Mario’s; Khune; Downstairs in Mooi street near Amogela Mall.

Police and stakeholders encouraged tavern owners to organize transport for their patrons especially women when they are well served or find themselves under the influence when taverns close business.
Visible Policing was conducted with vehicles throughout the Welkom suburbs.
“This kind of initiative will be held continuously throughout this Festive Season,” says Captain Stephen Thakeng.
