One wounded, duo arrested for business robbery in Sasolburg

Police shot and wounded one suspect and arrested two other suspects after a business robbery at a Post Office in Sasolburg.

It is alleged by the victim that he was standing by the door sanitizing clients when an unknown male entered the office. The male asked for change of ownership forms which the victim gave to him.

Victim further alleged he went to fetch water, and when he opened the door, the suspect overpowered him by pointing a firearm at him.

It is reported other two unknown males also entered. The trio went to the manager and demanded the safe keys which he could not provide. They broke the burglar door and gained access to the safe, which was not locked.

Suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and the manager’s cellphone.

They fled the scene in a white BMW without registration number.

A lookout was activated to different units and neighboring stations to pursue the suspects. They were apprehended in Sharpville, Gauteng by Sasolburg Tactical Response Team (TRT).

One suspect received medical treatment at Sebikeng Hospital under police guard after being shot on the right leg.

Police confiscated the getaway car; an undisclosed amount of cash; a pistol without serial number; and a pellet gun.

A case of business robbery has been registered for further investigation in Sasolburg. On the other hand a case of possession of suspected stolen property is registered for investigation in Vereeniging.

Trio suspects, aged 31-43, will soon appear before Sasolburg Magistrates’ Court.
