Lifeless body of woman found raped in Odendaalsrus farm

Residents of Odendaalsrus are still reeling in shock after a disturbing discovery of a lifeless body of a woman was found raped and killed by an unknown suspect(s).

The woman who has not been identified as yet was found in a pool of blood on a farm next to the K10 Section in Odendaalsrus by a passers-by on Wednesday, August 3.

Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng, says the Odendaalsrus police were called to a scene where a resident of Kutloanong, who was busy cutting wood, allegedly found the body of a murdered woman.

“On arrival, the police were directed to a spot where the body of an unknown female was found, the deceased had a wedding ring on her finger, and her clothes were scattered on the scene, with police suspecting that she was raped too,” he says.

Thakeng says a case of murder was registered for further investigations.

He said the police appeals to members of the community, or anyone missing a relative, to visit the Odendaalsrus Police Station, as no one has been reported missing in the area.

He further called on residents who might have the information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact detective Keke Moeketsi on 082-301-2797 or visit the nearest police station.

The incident adds to the ever-increasing statistics of gender-based violence against women in the country as whole.
