Police open inquest after decomposed body of woman found in Winburg

The Winburg police have opened an inquest docket after a human body in a decomposed state was discovered by a passer by, who instantly tipped-off the Winburg Police.

The police were informed of the woman body lying in the open veld opposite Riverside in Makeleketla.

“On the 6 April 2022 at about 12:46 Mr Pule Barnard residing at Makeleketla Winburg informed the Police about the body of a human being lying in the open veld,” said Lejweleputswa police spokesperson captain Stephen Thakeng.

It is alleged that on arrival of the SAPS members, the body was found to be of an adult woman.

“There was no identification and the deceased is therefore unknown.

Relatives are wanted to come forward to claim the deceased,” said Thakeng.

The police has since launched further investigations pertaining this case.

“Should anyone have information about the deceased body of an adult woman, can contact Detective Warrant Officer Sanet Smit of Winburg Detective Services at cellphone number 082 466 7678 or contact the telephone number 051 881 8300 during office hours,” said Thakeng.
