Welkom cops are asking the public’s help in finding relatives of a man found hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck, on Jan Hofmeyer Road near Intermines Services in Welkom.
An unknown man was found on January 28, 2024, at about 10:50 in the morning.
Lejweleputswa police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng says the body is currently held in Welkom Mortuary, and no one has come forward to claim it; therefore, the police are looking for the deceased’s family.
“The deceased could be in his 30’s, about 1,8 meters tall, and of medium build.
He was found wearing a red t-shirt, green trouser, black underpants, and black flip-flop shoes,” Thakeng said.
Thakeng confirmed that a case of inquest has been registered for further investigation, and should anyone have information to trace his relatives, Detective Warrant Officer Riaan de Lange of Welkom Detective Services can be contacted on 082 821 9227 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or share information via the MySAPS App anonymously.
