Heilbron Regional Court convicted and sentenced the 32-year-old accused to eight years in prison on Monday, 20 December 2021.
Gift Mpho Setagqne faced charges of house robbery; unlawful possession of firearm; unlawful possession of ammunition and explosives.
His conviction originates from an incident that occurred on 13 June 2018 in Phiritona, Heilbron. The suspect entered the victim’s house and forcefully took his mini bus taxi.
The suspect then drove towards Sasolburg where police stopped and arrested him.
Members then handed the matter over to Sasolburg Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team for further investigation
The investigation led to the accused’s arrest and ultimately his imprisonment.
