Thabiso Motloung (40) receives 12 years sentence from Bethlehem Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 18 January 2022 for killing his wife.
On Wednesday afternoon, 01 December 2021, Petrus Steyn police were summoned to Mamafubedu graveyard by community members who saw a female’s body lying amongst the graves.
Upon arrival, members found the body with bruises and stab wounds and authorities certified her dead.
The victim’s mother identified her as Puseletso Motaung (28).
After opening a murder case, members arrested a the suspect within seven days since the incident.
The 40-year-old accused appeared several times in courts until Bethlehem Magistrates Court found him guilty and sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment.
Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane stated that the police would continue fighting GBV crimes and ensure perpetrators pay for their acts.
