Police arrest business robber after looting

On Tuesday, 14 September 2021, two men entered a shop and pointed a gun at a 28-year-old complainant and demanded money.

Police report stated that stated the men took a lot of unknown amount of coins out of the till and cigarettes. They then fled the scene in a silver Toyota Conquest with unknown registration numbers.

Viljoenskroon SAPS launched a manhunt and mobilized Vierfontein for assistance. The getaway mitor vehicle was spotted driving to the direction of Orkney and was blocked by Vierfontein SAPS members near Vaal Bridge. One of the suspects managed to run away on foot while his peer was arrested.

“The police confiscated the motor vehicle; a 9mm pistol and some of the stolen items,” –says the Captain Malebo Khosana.

It was also discovered that the Toyota Conquest was reported stolen in Thabong, Welkom. The man labeled as ‘Suspect 37′, will be charged for possession of unlicensed firearm; possession of suspected stolen vehicle and business robbery. He will appear at Viljoenskroon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 17 September 2021.
