Following a tip-off, members of Odendaalsrus SAPS were reporting off duty and traveling from Odendaalsrus to Welkom after an intelligence led information resulted into the seizure of stolen copper cable on Saturday morning.
According to an issued statement, local authorities from Welkom, were traveling in State way, when they received information about a vehicle suspected to be transporting stolen goods.
This white Nissan bakkie was identified in Stateway and when members approached it, three African males fled from the scene towards the nearby bushes.
One of the suspects, a 31-year-old male from Bronville was arrested.
While members were searching the vehicle, copper cable with estimated value to R500 000, implements used to commit crime were seized.
The suspect will be facing possession of suspected stolen copper cable, house breaking implements and road traffic act, the registration number and Disk were not corresponding.
