Joint operation leads to illegal abalone facility bust and an arrest of six suspects in Bayswater, Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 21 December 2021.
Bloemfontein Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation; Tactical Response Team (TRT); K9 and Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) engaged in a joint operation after receiving information about an illegal processing of abalone. They identified the house believed to be an illegal abalone facility.
Members approached a house located on 25 Olympus Street and searched the premises. During the search, they uncovered dry and wet abalone with an estimated street value of more than R7 million.
Six suspects aged between 20 and 40 were arrested. They will soon appear before the court
