A joint operation by Ventersburg SAPS; Free State Liquor Board; and Destea conducted a compliance inspections on spaza shops; supermarket; and a bottle store.
Members issued bottle store owner, Linghua Gao (45) a R3 000 fine for altering/removing labeling on trade description without authorisation from Consumer Protection Act.
He paid Admission of Guilt fine.
“Members also visited a supermarket and found explired food. They fined the owner R3 000 under the Consumer Protection Act,” informed Captain Thakeng.
Abdul Alam Azad (39) paid the Admission of Guilt.

The third suspect, Bayene Agedo (29), also received a R3 000 fine for selling expired food.
He also paid the R3 000 fine by Admission of Guilt.
Lejweleputswa District Commissioner, Major General Lerato Molale, welcomed the arrests. He further applauded members and stakeholders involved in the joint operation.
“This operation will send a clear message to Ventersburg business people to comply with the laws, especially Consumer Protection Act,” concluded Major General Molale.
