School girl arrested for allegedly murdering her two-month-old baby

A 15-year-old school girl has been arrested for allegedly killing her two-month-old baby and disposing the body in a water carnal in Phomolong, Hennenman.

Capt. Stephen Thakeng said community members reacted with shock following a discovery of a body dumped in the water nearby a house in the vicinity of Phomolong yesterday, September 16.

Elucidating the whole story, Thakeng detailed that some community members, became suspicious after realizing that they have not seen the girl with her baby for some weeks and decided to ask her where the infant was, she refused to tell them what happened to the infant.

“The community members decided to go to the police station to report the incident. Warrant officer Marhudi Mothudi of Hennenman Visible Policing went to one of the high schools in Phomolong, where the suspect attends the school,” Thakeng says.

Thakeng says the alleged suspect, was interrogated regarding the whereabouts of her infant child.

“She informed the SAPS member that she allegedly killed the child and threw the deceased in a water carnal. She agreed to cooperate with the police to where the body was dumped,” he said.

It is reported that when the police arrived at the scene, the suspect pointed out a black plastic bag that had the decomposed remains of the infant.

“The 15-year-old girl was then arrested and charged for murder.

She made a brief appearance today at the Hennenman Magistrate Court today, where her case was postponed to September 23, for further investigations.
