More than 130 people gathered at Eureka Park in White City Sector on Tuesday, July 19, for crime prevention engagement organised by Meloding police officers.
Lejweleputswa spokesperson, captain Stephen Thakeng said, various police officials comprising of the Visible Policing and Social Crime Prevention unit made the meeting to be a success.
Amongst other important factors about crime, police officers explained crime origins and how can residents protect themselves against burglaries and robberies in their homes.
“Residents raised their concerns and promised to address those concerns for instance feedback from detective services during investigation of cases,” said Thakeng.
Community members were educated about Children’s Rights and they were urged to inform police about places that sell drugs in the area.
“Residents were also encouraged to join team of patrollers so that they can ensure that Meloding becomes a crime-free policing precinct,” concluded Thakeng.
