Angry community of Thabong residents said they could not sit back while gangs terrorise their community.
This comes after an African male was badly beaten by the angry mob in Thabong.
The unconscious man was found lying on the ground by police members with blood stains.
According to Thakeng it seemed as if he was struck with stones, heavily beaten and he sustained head injuries as a result.
It is alleged that the community took the the thug outside Thabong Community Centre, old known as Phillip Smith, where he was beaten by the angry community, claiming that they were teaching him a lesson to never consider stealing from people.
Following this attack, Lejweleputswa spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said a case of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) was registered.
The station Commander of Thabong pleaded with the residents not to take the law into their own hands.
“We would like to appeal to residents of Thabong, not to take law into their own hands but allow the wheel of justice to roll especially when crime has been committed.
If residents further continue with these acts then we will have no option but to ensure that all perpetrators of mob justice also face the might of the law,” he said.
Station Commander of Thabong and his management promised to work together when crime is committed, and when the perpetrator has been brought to the station.
He further explained that in these mob justice, innocent people are being victimized or even killed because of rumours.
“We are appealing to residents to trust the SAPS members of Thabong, who will ensure that thorough investigation are conducted so that perpetrators of crime face the might of law,” he concluded.
